The company is managed by two Managing Partners, Friedrich-W. Gause and Hans Maier.
Friedrich-W. GauseFriedrich-W. Gause is a Co-founder and a Managing Partner at BGM Associates. He has held management and executive positions in Schering AG, Intendis GmbH and Bayer Healthcare, primarily associated with ethical pharma products, in-vivo diagnostics and medical devices for oncology, neurology and dermatology.
For more than 8 years Friedrich has worked in Asia, leading the build-out of the Medical Marketing and Sales functions of Schering’s Pharma Joint-Venture in China, headed the Bayer Healthcare Division and served as the Senior Bayer Representative in South Korea. Friedrich chaired the Pharma Committee of the EU Chamber of Commerce in Korea and vice-chaired the Korean Research-based Pharmaceutical Industry Association. From 2013 to 2015, Friedrich served as a COO of Berlin startup Piramal Imaging to build out the global commercial organization and distribution network and launched the company's leading brand Neuraceq, a radiopharmaceutical for imaging of Alzheimer’s Disease patients. Since 2016, Friedrich chairs the Supervisory Board of Medicinisto AG, Berlin-based digital health startup. Friedrich holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in chemical engineering and business administration from the Technische Universität Berlin. |
Hans MaierAfter his PhD in Economics and Social Sciences from Freie Universität Berlin and a research fellowship at the International Institute of Management – Science Center Berlin (Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin), Hans Maier has spent his entire professional career in the biopharma industry with Schering AG and Bayer AG. His career comprises General Manager positions for Schering in Korea and Japan, CEO positions of Global Business Units (Diagnostic Imaging in Schering and Bayer and Schering Dermatology) and Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development at Schering. He also served on the Executive Committees of both Schering AG and Bayer-Schering Pharma AG.
Hans Maier is on a number of company supervisory and scientific advisory boards and is the current President of the Supervisory Board of the German Heart Center Berlin. He is a Professor of International Strategic Management at Berlin School of Economics and Law, where he teaches Change Management and Leadership in the schools international MBA programs. |

Stefan K. WidensohlerStefan K. Widensohler serves as the Vice Chairman of the Federal German Medical Technology Association (BVMed). He is one of Germany’s most successful healthcare entrepreneurs. Among others, he co-founded Invatec SpA, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of minimally invasive products for interventional cardiology andperipheral vascular interventions, which he sold to Medtronic Inc. in 2010. Stefan Widensohler is on the board of directors of a number of international medical device companies, Chairman of the Board of Xeltis and an active investor and mentor to startups in this area.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Heinz-Otto PeitgenHeinz-Otto Peitgen is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Bremen University and Florida Atlantic University where he served for more than three decades. A pioneer in the study of fractal geometry and chaos theory, Prof. Peitgen has been instrumental in the digital transformation of image based diagnostics and surgery.He is the founder of Fraunhofer MEVIS, Institute for Medical Image Computing, and co-founder of MeVis Medical Solutions AG which was acquired by Varian Medical Systems, Inc. in 2015. Prof. Peitgen was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his outstanding contribution to science.

Prof. Dr. med. Jörg DebatinJörg Debatin combines a distinguished academic career with tenures at Duke, Stanford, Zürich and Essen, where he served as Chair of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology with an outstanding career in Hospital Management. As Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer he oversaw the transformation of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf into a showcase of organizational innovation in Germany and beyond.
Jörg subsequently pursued an industrial career as CEO of the blood- and tissue-based diagnostic services provider amedes AG. Until recently he served as the Global Chief Technology and Medical Officer of GE Healthcare. |
